Candy Buffets

So i decided to do a candy buffet as our favors for the wedding. I like the idea even more now, because its something I'm going to do on my own. I've already bought 5 containers and I made an excel spreadsheet of candy I want and how much it costs and where I'm getting it from. The candy is going to cost the most money by far. We are probably going to have around 200 people, so I'm shooting for 60-70 pounds of candy. You would think it would take awhile to make a list with that much candy, but it took me no time at all.

My wedding color is purple, but some of the colors I've chosen are actually more of a wine or burgundy color. I'm going to focus on the purple and add in a little burgundy/red, pink, and definitely white. White just has this wonderful vintage/classic feel to it, even with candy.

Containers have not been expensive so far. I just printed the hobby lobby 40% off a regular item coupon. You can use them once a day too, so i can go back and buy something else the next day. I know i want this large martini glass so i have some height in my buffet. I also have a 40% off coupon for Michael's as well.

Some things I've noticed from looking at pictures:
1. Height(in some form) is important. As of right now, I'm going to just buy a few tall containers, but I've seen people use flowers and balloons as well. I don't like the idea of putting short containers on something to make the height. I've seen it done well only a few times, but I've seen a bunch of candy buffets that were done poorly this way. The fabric over the risers can look tacky.
2. Uniformity. It seems like too many different containers can throw the whole buffet off. The main thing I've seen is focusing the height in the middle and then going outwards to the smaller containers up front on the table. I've also seen too many tall glasses. I think the main thing here is balance.
3. Then there is ribbon and stickers. I've bought ribbon already and i definitely think I'm going to use that on some of my containers. I'm not sure about the stickers though. They look cute, but its another thing I'd have to think about.

I'm using gable boxes for the guests to put Candy in. I'm also thinking about getting some macaroons made (hopefully purple!) to add some extra detail to the buffet. I'm trying to have some variety, because I'm sure there will be some people who won't take much of the candy.

Some candy buffet pictures i like:

I love the idea of sticking the candy sticks and lolly pops into sugar or loose rock candy. Talking about all this stuff is starting to make my head hurt :p

First Post - Etsy Purchases

I recently went a little crazy on Etsy, but i didn't want these items getting purchased by someone else. Also, the prices were great, which is another reason i couldn't pass them up!

These were bigger than i thought, and so cute!
I loved this dress when i ordered it. I was unsure about sizing, but it ended up only being a little big through the waist, which is fixable.

I think this is my favorite purchase so far. I finally hung this little guy on my wall and he makes me so happy
This is going next to my owl, and will be the start of my wall art.
I have a ton of space to fill on the walls in my room, but this will work nice above my bed. Plus, more owls!

My recently acquired decorating interest is probably bugging the hell out of my mother. She's always trying to move my stuff around (She did like my owl though). Now I just need to print some pictures out of the Fiance and I. I'm thinking of putting three in some small silver frames above my bed.
